ANM — Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery

The Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) programme at Indian Institute of Nursing is the first step for many of our students into a lifetime of service in healthcare. Designed for those who wish to make a meaningful difference in community health, maternal care, and rural healthcare delivery, this course builds a strong foundation in nursing fundamentals, midwifery practice, and public health awareness.

Our ANM graduates go on to work in primary health centres, sub-centres, government health missions, and private clinics — often becoming the first and most trusted point of contact for families in underserved communities.

Course Overview

The ANM programme is a 2-year diploma course that combines classroom learning with extensive hands-on clinical training. Students are introduced to core nursing skills, maternal and child health, immunisation practices, nutrition, and community health education — all taught by experienced faculty and reinforced through supervised practice at our partner hospitals and health centres.

Duration: 2 Years
Eligibility: 10+2 (any stream with English compulsory and must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks) from a recognised board
Age Limit: 17–35 years (as per state nursing council norms)
Affiliation: Affiliated by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and State Medical Faculty, Lucknow
